The Achelo Cortona Rosso DOC by Tenuta La Braccesca shines in a vibrant purple in the glass, the nose presents fruity notes of light nuts and plums. On the palate, this red wine from southern Tuscany surprises with fruity notes and a pleasant spice and freshness, tasteful with soft, flattering and sweet tannins. The finale is long with salty, mineral notes.
Vinification of Achelo Cortona Rosso DOC by La Braccesca
This tasteful red is vinified from 100% Syrah, which grows in the vineyards on the borders between Montepulciano and Cortona on dry, clay-containing soils. The Achelo is harvested in mid-September. During destemming and pressing, the must is cold macerated to highlight the varietal fruity notes of the grape variety. The fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature up to a maximum of 28°C for ten days. Then 70% of the wine is filled into used barriques in the second and third pass, where it undergoes the malolactic fermentation and is aged, the rest goes into stainless steel tanks. After bottling, the wine matures in the bottle for a few months before being sold.
The name Achelo stands for the demolished horn of the god Achelo in the battle with Heracles, in ancient mythology a symbol of abundance and fertility.
Achelo Cortona DOC can be stored for 4 to 5 years.
