Benromach - The smallest distillery in Speyside
Founded in 1898, the Benromach distillery from Forres is the smallest distillery for Scotch in the Speyside region. The history of Benromach is changeable. Production never ran under one management for more than a quarter of a decade until 1993, when Gordon & MacPhail took the reins. A lot of renovation work was carried out and production was brought up to the latest state of the art. Finally, almost 100 years after its foundation, it was reopened by His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales and 6 years later the first Single Malt Scotch from new production was presented.
Speyside - Region of the mild single malts
The Speyside region is known not only for the abundance of its distilleries, over half of Scotland's total number are located here, but also for its mild, slightly peaty malt whiskies. Benromach absolutely lives up to the ideal of Speyside single malt and is, of course, available in older vintages. The finest barley from the region, pure spring water from the Romach Hills and the best yeast, these are the three basic ingredients for the success of Benromach.
