in 1973, the current owners of Borgo Magredo acquired the already existing 200 hectare estate in Grave del Friuli in the municipality of Spilimbergio in Friuli.
The home of Borgo Magredo is Friuli Venezia Giulia
The potential of the vineyards, with its stony, gravel-strewn soils, was quickly recognized. Together with a local vine nursery, the vineyards were gradually replanted over the next 20 years, so that today nearly 87 hectares of vineyards are cultivated. Borgo Magredo cultivates white grape varieties typical of the region
- Sauvignon
- Friuliano
- Pinot Grigio
- Chardonnay
and the red varieties
- Merlot
- Cabernet Sauvignon
while also experimenting with Pinot Nero and Moscato Rosa.
The eye drinks with the Borgo Magredo wines
In the marketing of its wines, Borgo Magredo is particularly original. On the one hand, the wine is bottled in eye-catching bottles, which immediately attract attention with the relief imprint of the producer and their appearance reminiscent of old apothecary bottles. On the other hand, the wines in this outfit also unmistakably bridge the gap to modernity with their eye-catching and colorful labels.
