The Tenuta Caparzo is half an hour's drive from Siena, in the middle of Tuscany. Like in a painting, the Caparzo winery is situated in a soft landscape with cypress groves. Sangiovese is the main wine on the 90 hectares. The result is one of the most famous wines of the region, the Brunello di Montalcino. The Soul of the Tuscany
In the hills of the Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini from Rome there are 4 renowned wines. Since 1998 the trained winemaker has been leading the fortunes of Borgo Scopeta, Doga delle Clavule, Altesino and Tenuta Caparzo. The Sangiovese grape variety is at the centre of her commitment in all her wines. The Brunello di Montalcino DOCG is the result of it. Since 2010 this wine has regularly received top ratings from James Suckling, Gambero Rosso and Duemilavini. The mastermind behind this success is Massimo Bracalente, who succeeds in interpreting Sangiovese with virtuosity.
Pure Tuscany in the bottle
Other than usual, the Sangiovese is not grown in large but in small woods. This gives the wine a softness and a soft body that is second to none. The most important vineyards of the 90 hectares are La Casa and La Caduta. Almost legends in Tuscany. The average planting density is 5000 vines per hectare, which are mainly cultivated in cordon pruning. The grapes are harvested by hand, with a high degree of selection.

The vineyards in Montalcino are at an altitude of 200 to 300 metres. The Böden are very varied and move between sandy and loamy Böden, but also slate and sandstone lies. The wines of Caparzo owe their richness, longevity and character to the location of the vineyards, the soil and the microclimate that prevail here.
