More information about Dhroner Großer Hengelberg Riesling Monopollage - Günther Steinmetz
The Günther Steinmetz Dhroner Großer Hengelberg Riesling Monopollage is a first-class white wine. It offers a wonderfully bright, light yellow color. After the first swirling, one can perceive a first-class balance in this white wine, as it does not stand out on the glass walls in a watery, syrupy or liqueur-like manner. Ideally poured into a white wine glass, this Old World wine reveals delightfully complex aromas of morello cherry, pomelo, lemongrass and damson, rounded out by air-dried prosciutto, firewood and sun-warmed rock contributed by barrel aging.
This white from Günther Steinmetz is perfect for all wine drinkers who like as little residual sugar in their wine as possible. At the same time, however, it never shows itself to be meager or brittle, as one might naturally expect from a wine. On the tongue, this balanced white wine is characterized by an incredibly crisp and dense texture. Finally, the finale of this white wine from the Moselle wine-growing region, more precisely from the Dhron, impresses with considerable reverberation. The finish is also accompanied by mineral notes from the slate-dominated soils.
Vinification of the Günther Steinmetz Dhroner Großer Hengelberg Riesling Monopollage
This white wine clearly focuses on one grape variety, and that is Riesling. For this wonderfully balanced varietal wine from Günther Steinmetz, only the best grapes were brought in. On the Mosel, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of slate. Moreover, the grapes of this white wine of Günther Steinmetz do not grow in the flat land, but dig their roots into the soil in steep slopes. The steep slope cultivation ensures that even in cooler wine-growing regions with less long growing seasons, the vines receive a maximum of sun. Dhroner Großer Hengelberg Riesling Monopollage is an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, as this German wine exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underscores the success of Old World wines. After the hand harvest, the grapes are immediately taken to the press house. Here they are selected and carefully broken up. Fermentation at controlled temperatures follows. Vinification is followed by aging for several months in oak barrels.
