With the Erbacher Marcobrunn Riesling Großes Gewächs from Kloster Eberbach, the winery ties in with the centuries-old tradition of cabinet cellar wines. A tradition that goes back to the Eberbach Cistern Monks, who in the 12th century carried the demanding Burgundian vine from their homeland, Burgundy, and cultivated it in the Rheingau.
The Eberbach Erbacher Marcobrunn Riesling sparkles in a light straw yellow with golden highlights in the glass. The complex bouquet of this expressive white wine reveals a wonderful aroma of ripe apples, juicy mangoes and pears. Add some passion fruit and subtle woody notes. On the palate, this German white wine has a powerful, gripping body with notes of apples, pears, tropical fruits and a filigree wood insert. The acid is perfectly woven into the body and is supported by a good tension. The finale comes with magnificent length and elegance.
Vinification of Eberbach Riesling Großes Gewächs Erbacher Marcobrunn
A document dated 1390 proves that the vineyard in "Marckinborn" is one of the oldest monastic vineyards. The name Marcobrunn is derived from the fountain that stands between Hattenheim and Erbach. The location was considered synonymous with the finest Rheingau wines in 1762. This position is oriented to the south with an inclination of 0% to 25%. The deep soils are rich in clayey marl and calcareous
.After the very careful harvesting of the grapes we prepared the harvested material in the cabin cellar for fermentation. After strict selection, the fermentation process begins in stainless steel tanks. At maturity, this wine is placed in wooden barrels for some time and rests a little further on the bottle.
