The Ghenos Primitivo di Manduria of Torrevento from the Italian wine region of Puglia is a full-bodied, grape-varietal and aromatic red wine.
In the glass, this wine shines in a deep ruby red with garnet red highlights. The nose enjoys an intense, full bouquet that reveals lush aromas of juicy Amarena cherries, candied orange peels, floral notes of roses and spicy vegetarian nuances of leather, coffee and vanilla. On the palate, this Italian red wine convinces with a wonderfully densely woven tannin structure, which wonderfully complements the full-bodied body. The aromas of the nose are also reflected and harmonize very well with the acid-sweet play. The finale comes with a pleasant length and chocolate nuances.
Vinification of Torrevento Ghenos
The grapes for this varietal Primitivo grow in Puglia - the wine region DOC Primitivo di Manduria. The vines grow on loamy soils.
Inmid-September, the grapes are harvested and immediately brought to the wine cellar of Torrevento. There, the readings are first fermented in stainless steel tanks. This is followed by a maceration period. Once the fermentation process is complete, this red wine is aged for 10 months in stainless steel tanks - followed by 6 months in barrique barrels. Finally, this wine rounds off harmoniously on the bottle before it leaves the winery.
Food recommendation for the Primitivo Torrevento Ghenos
This dry red wine from Italy is an excellent accompaniment to cozy barbecues with the family and friends. But this wine is also a treat for selected sausage and cheese specialties.
