The Gran Malbec from Bodega Piedra Negra is an excellent Argentine red wine from the Mendoza wine region of the Chacayes vineyard.
In the glass, this wine shines in a deep cherry red with purple highlights. The spicy-fruity bouquet convinces the nose with expressive aromas of dark berries - especially blueberry, mulberry and blackcurrant, juicy black cherries and warm spices, such as clove and nutmeg. Thanks to the oak carving, shades of toast, coffee, vanilla and mild tobacco are added.
The middle body pampers the palate with a juicy, elegant structure and concentrated fruit fullness. The structured tannins are woven densely and clearly into this Argentinian red wine. A wonderfully harmonious and balanced red wine that shines in the final with an excellent length.
Vinification of Gran Malbec by Piedra Negra
The Malbec grapes grow at an altitude of about 1100 m in the vineyards of Vista Flores in Mendoza. The harvesting is done exclusively by hand in 20kg boxes. Once in the wine cellar, the harvested material is strictly selected on vibrating sorting tables. The selected berries are first cold mashed for 3 days and then fermented at a controlled temperature (26 degrees Celsius) in coated concrete vats. After the fermentation process is complete, this wine remains on the mash for 2 weeks. This removes further color pigments, aromas and gentle tannins from the berry skins. Finally, this red wine is aged in one-year French oak barriques for a total of 18 months.
Food recommendation for the Piedra Negra Gran Malbec
This dry red wine from Argentina is an excellent accompaniment to wild boar ragout, pasta dishes in spicy sauces or with matured cheese and bayonet ham. We recommend that you open this red wine at least 2 hours before enjoyment.
