The barrel-aged Illusion One from the wine-growing region of the Ahr reveals itself in the glass in bright copper gold. The nose of this Meyer-Näkel Blanc de Noir shows all sorts of plums, quinces, apples, morello cherries and pears. As if that wasn't already impressive, the aging in small wooden barrels adds more flavors like sun-warmed rocks and forest floor
The Meyer-Näkel Illusion One presents itself wonderfully dry to the wine connoisseur. This Blanc de Noir never appears coarse or meager, as one might expect from a wine in the high quality wine range. On the tongue, this well-balanced Blanc de Noir is characterized by an incredibly melting texture. Due to its lively fruit acid, the Illusion One is wonderfully fresh and lively on the palate. In the finish, this Blanc de Noir from the wine-growing region of the Ahr finally inspires with considerable length. Again, there are hints of nashi pear and plum. In the finish, mineral notes of the soils dominated by sandstone and slate are added.
Vinification of the Illusion Eins by Meyer-Näkel
The balanced Illusion One from Germany is a single-varietal wine made from the Pinot Noir grape variety. In the Ahr region, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of slate and sandstone. The grapes for this Blanc de Noir from Germany are harvested exclusively by hand when they are perfectly ripe. After the harvest, the grapes are immediately taken to the winery. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. Fermentation follows in stainless steel tanks and small wood at controlled temperatures. The fermentation is followed by a maturation of 6 months in oak barriques.
Food recommendation for the Meyer-Näkel Illusion One
Enjoy this Blanc de Noir from Germany best very well chilled at 5 - 7°C as an accompaniment to vegetable salad with beetroot, asparagus salad with quinoa or roasted trout with ginger pear.
