Production of The Lost Distillery's Jericho Classic Selection Blended Malt Scotch Whisky
The Jericho Classic Selection whisky is made from a blend of ripe single malts, which then mature for a while in sherry barrels.
The Jericho Distillery was founded in 1822 in Aberdeenshire, the Highlands, by William Smith, who named it after Jordan Burn. As an agricultural distillery, Jericho produced the whiskies using only local produce and was one of the earliest distilleries to mature their whiskies in sherry barrels. In 1884 it was renamed Benachi, but due to its seclusion it was closed in 1913. Almost a hundred years later, the style of the Jericho Distillery experienced a renaissance.
The Lost Distillery Company, with the help of a team of whisky historians, revisits the production method and taste profiles of the former distilleries. By marrying single malts of different distilleries in the specific Scottish regions and using the given resources, they manage to reinterpret whiskies that have long since disappeared.
