original Danish recipe of the Malteserkreuz Aquavit has been unchanged since 1924. The secret of this elegant classic is the exclusive use of extra finely filtered alcohol and the selected spices. Cumin and dill in particular characterize the taste. In the finish, subtle notes of citrus fruit can be seen.
History of the Aquavit Maltese Cross
Today, the Aquavit Maltese Cross has more friends than ever and is considered No. 1 in the Aquavit area in Germany. When the Malteserkreuz Aquavit was inaugurated in Berlin in the mid-20s, life flourished in the capital. The aftermath of the war and inflation were clearly fading and people fell on everything that promised pleasure and enjoyment. It was the wedding of the metropolis Berlin in the "roaring twenties“. It was the time when you danced the shimmy, the women wore a cheeky bubi head and you could finally treat yourself to some pleasure again in good conscience. The first bottles of the Malteser Kreuz Aquavit went to Berlin's prestigious hotels Eden and Adlon. At that time, the bottles were still hand-labelled, packed in white wrapping silk and neatly stored in wooden boxes.
