Montesodi Toscana IGT 2015 - Castello di Nipozzano
The Montesodi Toscana IGT from Castello di Nipozzano is a historical cru from the homonymous location of the Frescobaldi family vineyard, which has been produced since 1974 and only in the best vintages.
In the glass, the Montesodi of Castello di Nipozzano shines in a rich, brilliant ruby red with garnet reflections. A complex and intense bouquet surprises with great aromas of red fruits, blackberries and pickled cherries, floral notes of forest violets and orange blossoms, mineral and spicy notes in the background.
On the palate it is soft and warm, persistent mineral, with ripe, slightly rough tannins and toasted notes. In the long, aristocratic and persistent aftertaste, fruity and a hint of bitter flavours are again to be seen, reminiscent of bitter orange jam.
Vinification of the Montesodi of Castello di Nipozzano
This Cru has been made exclusively from Sangiovese grapes from the vineyard of the same name at 400 m since 1974. Only the best vintages are vinified. This location has always been considered the best of the estate for the cultivation of Sangiovese. The vines are over 20 years old.
After manual harvesting, the grapes are macerated for 30 days, followed by malolactic fermentation. The ageing takes place in large wooden barrels of Austrian and French oak for 18 months, followed by 6 months in bottles.
Food paring for the Montesodi of Castello di Nipozzano of Frescobaldi
This powerful red wine goes well with short roasted red meats and especially well with Bistecca alla Fiorentina.
