More information

The Poggio Valente by Fattoria Le Pupille shines in dense, dark red in the glass. Aromas of red fruits unfold on the nose, especially cherry, followed by balsamic notes. On the palate powerful and round with beautiful fruit and firm, silky tannins. The finish is tasteful and pleasantly fresh.

Vinification of Poggio Valente by Fattoria Le Pupille

In 1996 Elisabetta Geppetti acquired the single location Poggio Valente near the medieval village of Pereta in southern Tuscany. The vineyard is located at an altitude of 280 m asl, in a hilly position, the upper soil structure consists of sand and lies on sandstone rocks. Selected Sangiovese clones and a small proportion of Alicante grow here. The grapes are already harvested somewhat overripe, then macerate on the peels for about 25 days. The fermentation and malolactic fermentation take place in a stainless steel tank, after which the wine is aged in small wooden barrels made of French oak and a small part of American white oak for a period of 15 months.

Food recommendation for Le Pupille Poggio Valente Rosso

This powerful red wine from southern Maremma tastes best with dishes of red meat and game.
