Private Bin Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 - Villa Maria

The Private Bin Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon from Villa Maria is a full-bodied, aromatic red wine cuvée from the New Zealand wine growing region Hawke's Bay on the North Island.

In the glass this wine shines in a rich ruby red with glossy dark red reflections. The expressive bouquet is determined by aromas of black currants, juicy cherries and hints of cedar wood. Very full-bodied with a balanced variety of aromas, this New Zealand red wine presents itself on the palate. The elegant fruit harmonises perfectly with the fine-grained tannins that accompany the long finish.

Vinification of Villa Maria Private Bin Merlot Cabernet

The grapes for this cuvée come from the vineyards around Napier, Hastings and Gimblett Gravells. Once the grapes have arrived in the Villa Maria cellar, they are completely destemmed and ground. The mash is then fermented in fermentation vats. During fermentation, the mash is pumped over and flooded three times a day. After the biological degradation of acidity is completed, this wine matures for a total of 12 months in French and American oak barrels.
