The Tawny 30 Years Old from Taylor's Port is an impressive, excellent protowine from the Portuguese wine region OF DOC Douro. This wine is vinified from Tinta Cao, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barocca, Touriga Francesa, Touriga Nacional and Tinta Amarela grape varieties.
In the glass, this wine shimmers in a luminous amber with mahogany shades. The nose enjoys a sweet, fruity aroma: dried yellow fruit, caramelised orange peels, freshly ground coffee and subtle roasting nuances reveal themselves. On the palate, this port wine convinces with an impressive power and juicy body. The fine sweetness harmonizes wonderfully with the aromas of the nose and is complemented by orange jam and creamy caramel. The sweet finale is wonderfully round and long.
Vinification of Taylor's Port Tawny 30 Years old
Aged Tawny primarily demands the art of blending and wise foresight of the development of wine during its long ageing in barrels. Because every Tawny is composed from the beginning for its specific age: 10, 20, 30 or 40 years and must always have its characteristic style and taste. Even if this port is composed of always different wines and vintages.
The grapes for this wine are harvested exclusively by hand and brought to the wine cellar of Taylor's Port, destemmed there and fermented in open stainless steel tanks. As soon as half of the sugar has been fermented, the fermentation process is stopped by the addition of high-percentage distillate. This preserves this wine's natural residual sweetness. Finally, this port wine matures for 30 years in wooden barrels until it is filled onto the bottle.
Food recommendation for the 30 Years Old Taylor's Tawny
Serve this port with nutty desserts and dark chocolate cakes. Or enjoy this wine with spicy hard cheese (such as Parmesan and Manchego).
