Borgo Conventi

Tenuta Borgo Conventi is located in the beautiful village of Farra d'Isonzo in the province of Gorizia near the Slovenian border. Founded in 1975, it owes its name to the monasteries of the region, whose heyday was from the 14th to the 16th century. Today the winery covers about 30 hectares and produces Collio and Isonzo DOC wines. The Borgo Conventi estate is built in colonial style and its extensive garden provides the ideal setting for parties, receptions and wine tastings. 

The grape varieties include local, as well as internationally successful varieties.

Conventi wines - mirror of the region

The soils of the "Collio" are largely made up of former seabed. Compact and deep layers of clay and sand that contain within them a variety of fossils and other residues of the sea. 

Friuli Venezia Giulia is synonymous with great white wines. The particularly porous rocks and the minerality of the soils produce fresh and fragrant wines of the Isonzo. But of remarkable elegance are also the wines of the Collio.

No less important are the red wines in the region. Great aromatic finesse, expressive and of good structure present themselves the wines of Tenuta Conventi. The most important varieties for Paolo Polegato, oenologist at Conventi are:

• Cabernet Franc

Everything remains different - Folonari goes, Pelegato comes

In 2019, there will be a change among the owners. Previously owned by the Folonari family, the winery in Friuli Borgo Conventi will become the property of Villa Sandi owner Moretti Polegato. No major changes have been made. The previous staff was retained and also the long-time oenologist, Paolo Corso remains Conventi and can continue the success story.
