Bracco Bosca

in 2005 Darwin Bracco and Mirtha Bosca founded the winery Bracco Bosca. Despite its youth, however, Bracco Bosca is already very old. In fact, the vineyards have been in the family for 5 generations. Originally from Piedmont, Italy, the family moved to Uruguay and settled in the Atlántida region to continue their Italian winemaking tradition in Uruguay.

It was Darwin Bracco and Mirtha Bosca who decided to buy the land from the "Gallegos" (in Uruguay all Spaniards are called "Gallegos" ). This land was located in front of the main house, where there were already vineyards. It was the basis for the construction of the long-awaited winery Bracco Bosca.

Ombú - the origin of the name

On this very spot stood an ombú, a large solitary tree, solitary and magnificent, as they are. Family stories say that the "Gallegos" had a general store on the property, and since they were afraid to put their savings in the bank, they hid them under the ombú in a pot of gold. Therefore, when someone went shopping, the family joked that they got the money from the ombú.

This tree is very susceptible to lightning and was hit during a thunderstorm a few years ago. The family joked that it served as a lightning rod because there was so much metal hidden under the tree. A few years later, the Braccos watched this tree come back to life, bringing important emotional and personal meaning to the family.

Today, Bracco Bosca is more convinced than ever that the real treasure is the land and the wines.

Ombù above all

The Ombú is a native tree of Uruguay and Argentina. Its original name Umbú comes from the Pampa language and means shade. It is known for providing shelter from the sun and rain. Generally it grows in isolation, but in Rocha there is the largest ombú forest, unique in the world with its extension of 20 km.

The grape varieties of Bracco Bosca

Mostly red grape varieties are grown in the vineyards of Bracco Bosca. Among the few white varieties is Moscatel, while the battery of red varieties is incomparably longer. These include
