Strong walls on the Costa Brava
Wine has been produced at Castillo Perelada in Catalonia since the Middle Ages. In 1923, Miguek Mateu acquired the castle in order to establish a museum and revive viticulture. Today the estate is run in the third generation by Javier Suqué Mateu, who expanded the estate’s vineyard area and built up the team.
Appetite for experimentation
The estate now has 5 different vineyards, each with its very own characteristics. The aspiration to constantly improve is also reflected in the ongoing research and further development of the wines from Castello Perelada. Thus, they experiment with grape varieties, change the harvest time and, in the cellar, age experimental wines in very small quantities in order to achieve the optimal result. The best of these wines are available in a special limited edition.
