Domaine Michel Girad combines the 2 famous grape varieties of the region into a work of art, creating a wine known beyond the borders of the region.

Domaine Michel Girard- the history
The history of the Girard estate dates back to the times of the French Revolution in 1789. But until the 60s of the last century, the wine was almost only consumed by the family itself. Or it was given to friends, but then really only to good friends. With Marius Girard, this was to change. He started bottling wines, looked for customers and slowly but steadily built up a market for the Sancerre Girard. Today, Michel, Philippe and Benoit Girad continue to run the winery and know each and every parcel of the total 16 hectares. As is typical for the region, only
- Sauvignon and
- Pinot Noir
are cultivated. Domaine Michel Girard produces wines that stand for the origin and bring the grape varieties into the glass as they grow in Sancerre. This produces the wines that are so distinctive and authentic, which are becoming more and more important again today.

Sancerre- a pearl in the Loire Valley and home of Domaine Michel Girard
In the heart of France lies the Département Cher with the small community of Sancerre. The village itself towers majestically over the Loire and is completely surrounded by vineyards. The small picturesque town is nowadays known for its wines of the same name. The region's two cultivated grape varieties benefit from the Loire's continental climate and fertile soil. The area includes a wide variety of rock and soil types. Each of these soil types produces a very special wine. For example, the dominant flints in the east provide a very mineral, spicy note. The growing area is AOC-certified(Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée). Sauvignon and Pinot Noir are cultivated on about 2600 hectares. Wines from other grape varieties have to be called country wines.

The Loire- originally like Domaine Michel Girard
The Loire is rather an unknown wine region or perhaps known only to enthusiasts. Over half of the wines produced here are drunk by the French themselves and not exported. This is probably why these wines, in all their originality, don't mean anything to everyone. The Loire shows an insane variety of appellations and origins. Not without reason, as the soil formations are at least as diverse. These soil formations determine the character of the wine and thus become an unmistakable distinguishing feature.
