Domaine Notre Dame des Palliéres, a traditional family winery run by cousins Jean-Pierre and Claude Roux, is located in the French wine region Côtes du Rhône and covers a total of 65 hectares, of which 15 hectares are the Gigondas sites in the Petit Vallée du Trignon. It is here in the traditional Provencal homestead that the famous spring of Notre Dame des Palliéres originates. Already in the Middle Ages, this spring was a popular stopover for pilgrims. In times marked by plague and disease, this water source represented the last hope for many people because healing powers were attributed to the water.
In addition to the sites in Gigondas, the winery also owns vineyards in Lirac, Sablet, Rasteau, Seguret and Côtes du Rhône. The main grape variety is Grenache, which is obtained from ancient vines and produces extremely low yields. But Domaine Notre Dame des Palliéres is not about mass, not about modern wines like many make. Tradition and downright meticulous vineyard work are writ large at Notre Dame des Palliéres. This results in French wines that are juicy, balsamic, long and persistent - real wines for connoisseurs.
