Responsible for the wines of Fontana Bodegas & Viñedos are the New Zealand-born Master of Wine Sam Harrop and the Spaniard Tomás Buendía. To produce the exclusive wines, the winemaking team not only uses only grapes from their own vineyards, but also only selected grapes from very specific plots. A total of 400 hectares of vineyards are available to the two winemakers and their team, providing a wide selection of suitable grapes for the Dominio de Fontana wines.
The vineyards of Fontana Bodegas & Viñedos are located at an altitude of 700-800 meters above sea level and are cultivated sustainably - without the use of pesticides and with as little human intervention in nature as possible. Each grape variety planted there is carefully adapted to the different soil types, which range from clayey soils at lower elevations to stony limestone soils at higher elevations, and is tended according to individual growing conditions. The ripe grapes are always harvested and vinified separately.
