Joseph Burrier

Under the name Joseph Burrier, the family of the same name produces wine on its estates in Burgundy. The brands Château Beauregard and Joseph Deshaires also belong to the family.

Burgundy has been home to the Burrier family for nearly 600 years , tracing its origins back to Denis Burier in 1469. In 1854, the family bought the Château de Beauregard (Beauregard - beautiful view) near Solutré and began growing grapes. Joseph Burrier, the grandson of Joseph Deshaire, who bought the estate, gave it his name. Besides, the Château de Beauregard and Georges Burrier still exist as separate brands in the family. 

One region was not enough Joseph Burrier

The estates of Joseph Burrier make the estate one of the largest in southern Burgundy. 43 hectares of vines span several appellations:

• Pouilly-Fuissé
• Saint-Véran
• Fleurie
• Moulin-À-Vent
• Saint-Amour
• Chiroubles

With their striking Solutré rock, the villages of the Pouilly-Fuissé and Saint-Véran appellations (not to be confused with the commune of the same name in Provence) are blessed with limestone soils that characterize the region's Chardonnays. On the other hand, the red wines of Joseph Burrier come, among others, from Fleurie, where the Gamay grape grows on soils with a high manganese content.

The appellations well presented

The estate Joseph Burrier takes great care of the soil fauna and treats the vines in such a way that they can root deeply and thus become more robust. Fermentation in the cellar is slow and the clarification process is natural.  Joseph Burrier considers this long aging period as necessary so that the wines can express their terroir. The white wines are aged in 228-liter barrels sut lie and have a good balance between minerality and fruit, typical of the region. The red wines from Beaujolais offer a soft tannin structure, wonderfully balanced, in the classic style of this appellation.
