L'Antesi - History from Apulia

L'Antesi is a small agricultural cooperative south of Brindisi and produces sensational local DOC wines under this name. The DOC Squinzano is an absolute new discovery, whereas the Salice Salentino is experiencing a great renaissance and can definitely show a certain degree of fame. Almost all L Antesi wines are powerful and full of intense fruit, but moderate in alcohol. Clearly more powerful and absolutely impressive is the Salice Salentino Riserva - a grenade at an extremely moderate price - and not least due to the excellent rating in the wine world, one of the most successful wines in the range. The new Cuvée Casalecchio di Sorbo has become a top seller, which impresses not only because of the extraordinary bottle.
Vineyards in the south of Italy
The best wines of Apulia are produced on the Salento peninsula, the heel of the Italian boot. The red soils lie over limestone. The influence of the Adriatic and Ionian Seas brings the desired nightly cooling, this encourages the natural aroma formation in the grapes.

Low yields per hectare
The extreme climate and the comparatively poor soil are already a natural yield limitation. The average annual yield is around 50 hl/ha, well below the regional average.
Italy - North and South
It is an extraordinary success story that the southern Italian wine-growing regions have achieved within just a few years. Only a few years ago, they were smiled at by the northern Italians who were used to success and accepted at best as a timid supplier of powerful wines to improve their own wines, which were still very thin in some vintages. The Puglia region in particular surprises with top-class, fruit-driven wines, which exactly meet the taste preferences of a very large clientele. Above all, when they have only a very moderate 12.5 percent alcohol by volume. Today, they are on everyone's lips and it is impossible to imagine a well-assorted wine cabinet without them. Southern Italians can be enjoyed with Italian food or with a pleasant evening in front of the fireplace.
