History around Vignobles Montagnac

Located in the historic heart of the Languedoc, Vignobles Montagnac has been producing wine since 1937, 500 winegrowers from 8 communes cultivate 2,000 hectares of vineyards.
Montagnac's vineyards are bordered to the south by the Etang de Thau, famous for its oysters and the Mediterranean Sea, and to the north by limestone reliefs into which the Hérault River has carved deep gorges. The vineyards extend south of Montpellier on the hills that dominate the Hérault valley and the Mediterranean coast. Their wines were exported to ancient Rome even back then, as evidenced by the MAF seal on the amphorae of Villa Loupian, whose ancient mosaics are on display in a museum in the heart of the Montagnac vineyards. The winemakers honored the tradition of their ancient wine heritage by placing monumental statues in the heart of the vineyards and the magnificent landscapes that you can discover during your visit to the winery's cellars.
