It all began..
... in 1968 with Carlo Antonini - a passionate agricultural and beekeeping teacher who bought the old land from the ancient noble family Conti Guidi in Tuscany. This noble family also gave its name to the village of Cerreto Guidi in the Medioevo. An authentic place in the heart of Tuscany.
In addition to his passion for teaching, Carlo also had a great passion for viticulture, which he passed on to his son Alberto Antonini .
Today Alberto and his wife Alessandra run the Poggiotondo winery with respect for the Tuscan winemaking tradition. They live together with their three children Angelica, Margherita and Carlo in the main house of the estate.

Pure expression of the Chianti region
The vineyards of Poggiotondo are cultivated according to the principles of organic farming. The goal is always to vinify wines with a strong connection to the region. This results in wines that become symbols of a respected and given terroir.
Alberto and Alessandra own 28 hectares of vineyards and have focused on native grape varieties:
- Sangiovese
- Canaiolo
- Colorino
- A small part of Trebbiano
All wines are vinified according to the classic, original "Chianti recipe".

Organic farming
After 3 years of conversion, Poggiotondo has made it: this winery has been certified organic since 2014. Poggiotondo has focused on protecting the soil with its natural, vibrant, balanced fruit quality and active microbiology.
The principles applied in the vineyards are also in harmony in the winery. Concrete tanks are used for fermentation - large toasted oak barrels are used for aging, as well as concrete tanks. Commercial products such as yeasts, enzymes, etc. you will look in vain at Poggiotondo .
