The winery Santa Carolina has been around for more than 140 years and delights wine connoisseurs around the world.

Wines from the heart of the Chilean capital - Winery SantaCarolina

founded in 1875 by the entrepreneur Luis Pereyra Cotapos, the winery was named after his wife Carolina Iñiguez Vicuña

Winery Bodega Santa Carolina

In order to bring the best grape varieties from the Bordeaux region to Chile, Luis Pereyra Cotapos initially collaborated with oenologist Germain Bachelet. At about the same time, the most important buildings were designed and built by the French architect Emile Doyeré. Today, the colonial mansion and the Bodegas  are considered National Cultural Monuments of Chile and have been awarded accordingly. The Bodega Santa Carolina is located directly in the urban area of the Chilean capital Santiago and can even be easily reached by subway.

Santa Carolina Vineyard

Six different growing regions

The traditional winery stands for wines of very high quality. Only grapes from the best individual vineyards are pressed. Santa Carolina has the comfortable situation of being able to make use of six different growing regions. They are distributed around Santiago de Chile and are called

  • Casablanca Valley
  • Leyda Valley
  • Maipo Valley
  • Cashapoal Valley
  • Colchagua Valley and
  • Maule Valley.

Due to the proximity of the Pacific Ocean and the Andes Mountains, the regions offer a variety of climatic conditions. For example, one region can experience relatively cool summers and winters, while another region experiences mild winters and hot summers. However, grapes from all regions are allowed to ripen optimally and are rigorously selected to be vinified into intense, powerful and complex wines. The Central Valley harvest, for example, provides an exceptional starting point for great wines that are slowly and gently refined in French oak barrels.

Balanced Wines from Santa Carolina

At this top winery, tradition and state-of-the-art technology also come together to produce excellent wines worth drinking, along with the expertise of internationally recognized oenologists. The aim is always to produce wines that are typical of the grape variety, harmonious and balanced, with finesse and fruit. For this purpose, the Santa Carolina winery uses the grape varieties Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot or Shiraz.
