Segura Viudas

In the sun-drenched area located southwest of Barcelona, behind the famous Montserrat mountain range, lies the headquarters of the premium Cava house Segura Viudas, founded in 1958.

A brief word about Cava

• The Spanish town of Sant Sadurní D’ Anoia can look back on a winemaking tradition of over 900 years and
• is considered the Cava capital par excellence.
• "El Cava" means nothing other than sparkling wine and
• as such a quality sparkling wine, it is one of the best-known specialties of Catalonia.

Segura Viudas Cavas of the highest class

Around the winery, at an altitude of 700-800 m, the vines for the estate’s base wines are grown on predominantly limestone-, chalk- and sand-influenced soils. In the modernly equipped cellars, only the must from the first pressing is used for Cava production. With specially cultivated in-house yeast cultures, fermentation at Segura Viudas takes place in the bottle according to the “método tradicional”. This results in premium Cavas of the highest quality and reputation, offered only in specialist retail and fine dining establishments.

Highest recognition for highest quality

The Cavas from Segura Viudas are among the most frequently awarded Cavas from Spain on the international stage. In recognition of its high quality standards, the traditional house received the “Gran Vinitaly Special Award” in Verona in 2006. As early as 2004, Segura Viudas was named “Winery of the Year” by the renowned US magazine »Wine & Spirits« for the same reason.
