A source of life
Springfontein Wine Estate is located in the village of the same name, in central South Africa. The place name is derived from a water spring found here( Springfontein - jumping spring). In 1995 Johst Weber found an advertisement about Springfontein land in Decanter magazine at Heathrow airport, a year later he traveled to South Africa to see the land. Just one day after arriving, he signed a contract for the purchase with a handshake.
Wines for the conscience
The soils in Springfontein are characterized by shell limestone, and the site also has a cool microclimate. As a result, the estate can largely dispense with pesticides and the use of sulfur. The wines are vegan and certified organic throughout. The autochthonous grape varieties Pinotage and Chenel are the focus of the estate.
