The Tenuta Luce winery from Montalcino takes its inspiration in vinification from the beauty of nature, the balance of life, and the power of the sun.
Tenuta Luce - the light of the vines
Because Tenuta Luce wine springs from these facets and reveals an elegant structure with opulent aromas from Sangiovese and Merlot grapes – simply a Super Tuscan full of zest for life.

Where the sun shines on Tuscany
The trademark of the Tuscan wine producer Tenuta Luce is the twelve-tongued sun. A symbol that is frequently encountered throughout central Italy, whether on cobblestones during a walk or on keystones above archways. It is a symbol of life, a divine sign that radiates warmth. The warmth that is reflected in the winery’s Sangiovese and Merlot wines.
The Tenuta Luce winery
The vineyards of Tenuta Luce are located near the medieval town at a remarkable altitude. Between 350 and 420 meters above sea level, 55 hectares of vineyards are planted with Merlot and Sangiovese. The higher sites offer the Sangiovese grape clay-rich slate soils, while Merlot thrives on clay soils in the lower sites. The sun shines equally over the entire vineyard. Perfect climatic conditions ensure complex aromas and elegantly structured wines.
After selective harvesting, the grapes are brought to the cellar, where they are macerated separately and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks or concrete eggs. Only after fermentation are the wines blended, be it the classic harmony of Sangiovese and Merlot for Tenuta Luce, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese for Lux Vitis, or all three grape varieties for Lucente from Tenuta Luce. A pure Sangiovese can be found in Luce Brunello. Finally, the wines mature for months in partly new, partly used oak barrels.

The Tenuta Luce wines
- Luce IGT Toscana: powerful, well-balanced red wine with a purple body, aromas of ripe red fruits, incense, complex flavor profile supported by elegant tannins
- Luce Brunello di Montalcino: dense purple, dark, ripe fruits with licorice, tobacco, and truffle, creamy body, refined structure with velvety tannins, elegant finish
- Lucente IGT Toscana: intensely shining red, soft, full-bodied, fruit notes of blackberry, plum, and blackcurrant, roasted and vanilla notes, sweet-fruity aftertaste

The beginning of the Tenuta Luce winery
The story of the relatively young winery from Montalcino begins with Vittorio Frescobaldi and Robert Mondavi, who shared one goal: to create a wine that merges the boundaries of tradition and modernity. With the union of the two families, Tenuta Luce was able to draw on a wealth of experience. Despite all this knowledge, nature plays a significant role, and the winery does not interfere. The beauty of the land, the perfect terroir, is primarily responsible for the splendidly flourishing grape varieties. Today, oenologist Lamberto Frescobaldi takes the lead in creating the barrel-aged, characterful wines from Tuscany.
