Tenuta Montenisa in the heart of Franciacorta

Tenuta Montenisa is located right in the heart of Franciacorta, very close to the small village of Calino. The landscape and architecture here are characterized by gentle hills and moraine valleys, palaces, monasteries, abbeys and small churches. Legend has it that the name Franciacorta goes back to "Petite France", the name Charlemagne gave to the region.

The history

Some link the name of the locality Calino with ancient Greece, others derive the name from the Latin "callis" for small road.

The properties were inherited by Lavinia Calini, who married Gaetano Maggi, at the end of the 19th century. Since then the estate has been owned by the noble family from Brescia. In 1999 Marchesi Antinori and Tenuta Montenisa finally joined together.

The vineyards of Tenuta Montenisa

In the vineyards of Tenuta Montenisa grow the grape varieties typical of Franciacorta: Chardonnay with its typical floral and fruity notes, Pinot Nero for structure and personality, and mineral Pinot Bianco.

The historic vineyards of the estate are located on the hills of S. Stefano. The wines are intensely fragrant, complex and balanced.

The cellars of Tenuta Montenisa

The building complex of Tenuta Montenisa is surrounded by magnificent arcades. Beneath these are the cellars for vinification and maturation of the wines. Here the Tenuta Montenisa wines are given plenty of time to age on the lees. Remuage is still carried out, with the utmost attention paid to each individual bottle.
