Viña las Niñas - A Friendship Project
in 1996, Bernard Dauré embarked his friends Jean Pierre Cayard and Claude Florensa on a crazy project, a domain in southern lands, in Chile. The wives of the three families (mothers and daughters) fell in love with the Apalta land in the Colchagua Valley, just two hours south of Santiago de Chile, and so Viña las Niñas was born in their honor.
Viña Las Niñas today has 36 hectares planted in the heart of Apalta. Cabernet Sauvignon, Carménère, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Merlot and Chardonnay are the varieties they chose to plant, as these grape varieties thrive and express themselves best in the terroir. Mathias Klotz is responsible for the design of the winery and oversees its construction. Mathias Klotz, a great Chilean architect, immediately understood the desire of the three families and the girls: a wooden box, boxes; a cellar, offices, a laboratory, a warehouse, a room for the barrels...
The project has respected this gigantic environment dominated by the senses. The simplicity of the materials, the transparency, the balance in the work. The building blends into the landscape during the day, at night it illuminates the landscape and moves in front of the Apalta plain.

The Colchagua Valley was one of the most important agricultural areas in the country. The particular history of the Viña Las Niñas mansion dates back to the end of the 19th century, when it was built to house the Bulnes family, owners of the Hacienda Apalta, which was mainly dedicated to agriculture.
This hacienda had different owners until 1967, when it was expropriated for political reasons and divided into smaller parcels.
In 2000, the property where Casa Patronal is located was acquired by the company Viña Las Niñas, which is taking care of the restoration and maintaining constant renovation and conservation work around it.
Organic viticulture
Las Niñas are increasingly rooted in Apalta, defying modernity in the wines that come from it. The organic production is a must, a balance, a continuous search in each vintage. The freshness of the wines is witness to eternal youth.
It was started in 2013 with the production of the first organic wines, and since 2017 all products and wines are Ecocert organic certified.
Sustainability
The organic winery wanted to make a lasting commitment to the quality of life of its workers, the community in which it is inserted and the environment that surrounds it, through the proper management of the vineyard, the land and the environment, maintaining a conscious use of water, energy and fuel, and caring for the biodiversity of the environment .
In this way, being sustainable means representing in each bottle this fascinating combination of elements from the Apalta Valley, creating authentic organic wines that represent the land, but with the finesse, elegance and experience that have distinguished Viña Las Niñas since its inception.
The land - Apalta
The land of Apalta, "Tremor" in the indigenous dialect, is a small horseshoe-shaped valley protected on the north, east and west by hills that peak at 600 meters above sea level. This valley benefits from the wind between the Pacific Ocean and the Andes. The Tinguiririca River forms the southern border of Apalta and regulates the temperatures. It also brings the necessary water for irrigation. The soil is composed of sandy clay mixed with volcanic rocks. The temperatures registered in summer reach 23 degrees (from 12 °C to 35 °C). Las Niñas have gradually tamed this land to produce high quality grapes that serve us in the production of the best red wines of Chile. Apalta is now one of the most recognized, prestigious and award-winning wine regions in the world, and since 2018 has been legally recognized as a Denomination of Origin.
