Ponte was founded in 1948 thanks to the perseverance and ambition of a small group of winegrowers who had joined forces to overcome the difficult post-war years marked by reconstruction. Currently there are around 1000 winegrowing families, the in the entire Veneto region togethercultivateabout 3000 hectares of land , part of Viticoltori Ponte.

The history of the Ponte winery

1948: On September 7th, 12 partners found the Viticoltori Pontewinegrowing association.

1955: On 16 May the new Ponte di Piave premises are inaugurated.

1987: Foundation of Viticoltori Ponte Srl.

1995-1996: Merger with the Treviso winery of Villorba and Eraclea.

2001: Acquisition of the Caposile winery

today: about 1000 winegrowing families contribute to the successful history of Viticoltori Ponte .

The vineyards of the Ponte winery

More than 3000 hectares of vineyards, vast stretches of land from the slopes of the Montello, along the Piave river to its mouth. These lands once belonged to the 'Serenissima' Republic of Venice The charm and allure of this dazzling past still echo through the vineyards and forests, dotted with sleepy little towns and ancient hamlets.

Nestled between the Adriatic and the foothills of the Alps, in the vicinity of Conegliano, Viticoltori Ponte 's vineyards thrive on the hard clays and light sands typically deposited by the Piave River, which optimum soil standards produce and also from particularly favourable climate for the winegrowing benefitwhich is characterized by ideal Temperature conditions and the right level of rainfall .

The grape variety mix shows a clear prevalence of white grapes, ranked Prosecco DOC (basic variety Glera) and Pinot Grigio delle Venezie DOC, followed by Chardonnay and Manzoni. Among the red grapes, the most important varieties are Merlot and Cabernet, as well as Raboso, the typical autochthonous vine of the Piave river.

High quality standards at the Ponte winery

Important national and international certifications guarantee the high quality of Viticoltori Ponte wines The winery has the renowned FSSC 22000- certification, which guarantees the quality of the entire production and bottling process. It also guarantees food industry safety standards at every stage of the supply chain.

The PonteLabels for biological production have received the certificate of conformity from the Control and certification body Suolo e Salute preserve.

In addition, all Viticoltori Ponte products BRC ( British Retail Consortium ) and IFS ( International Food Standard ) are certified, thus meeting the strict standards developed by European retailers to qualify their suppliers according to the requirements of quality, safety and compliance with agricultural regulations.

Production standards at the Ponte winery

Viticoltori Ponte currently has four collection and winemaking sites, each equipped with processing technologies and an extensive wine shop where the full range of wines produced is sold.

The Basso Piave winery in Eraclea and the Caposilewineryare both located in the Province of Venice, while the Province of Trevisoishome tothe Trevigiana winery in Villorba and the Ponte di Piave headquarters, located in which also houses the bottling plant.

The state-of-the-art pressing plant guarantees excellent processing of the grapes and a refined final product, that highlights the organoleptic characteristics of the grapes used.

After vinification, a small selection of wines are aged in French oak barriques, spumante bottoms are aged on their lees in thermoconditioned stainless steel tanks, while ordinary table wines are aged in concrete tanks.
