At the southern tip of Spain lies Bodegas Jorge Ordonez & Co. in the municipality of Axarquía. Here, vines of various types are grown on slopes of 40-60% at up to 400m above sea level. The vines find their footing on the soils, which are mainly limestone, and thanks to the nearby sea, there is an excellent microclimate for southern Spain. Due to the steep slope, it is difficult to mechanize agriculture, which is why the vineyards can only be cultivated by man and animal. The vineyards of Bodegas Jorge Ordonez & Co. produce very low yields due to the terroir and the mainly old vines, which produce high concentrations in must weight.
