Borgo Condé - Wine from Emilia Romagna

The Borgo Condé winery is at home in Predappio. Predappio is a small village in the heart of Emilia Romagna , nestled between the Appennine Mountains and the Adriatic Sea, on the borders of the Foreste Casentinesi and the Pianura Padana. The Predappio Valley is authentic, with many vineyards and few houses, where ancient trades are still preserved and the rhythms of life still follow the seasons. In the lower part of the valley the mountains become gentle hills, historically suitable for wine growing. The climate is influenced by the mountains and the sea and is characterized by a constant breeze and high temperature variations between day and night, which is important for the ripening of the grapes and the perfuming of the wines. The calcareous-loam soil is characterized by the presence of the Spungone, a Pliocene rock of marine origin, a reminder of the time three million years ago when the Adriatic sea arrived at our hills and the current ridges were cliffs.

Borgo Condé - A family history

Together with his family, you are the guardians of centuries-old traditions. For the family, making wine in Predappio means dealing with more than 700 years of viticulture and preserving the traditions. In a time when everything goes fast, people here still live according to another time, the time of nature. Here they still pay attention to the calendar and not to the clock. The whole family is involved in the winery and daughter Chiara joined the team in 2012 and since 2015 she has been in charge of the vineyards, the cellar and taking care of the customers.

Winemaking at Borgo Condé

They are proud to grow the autochthonous variety of Sangiovese Piccolo, the Sangiovese di Predappio also called Sangioveto dal Cannello Piccolo. The Sangiovese Piccolo is characterized by smaller grapes and smaller berries with a deep skin, so the wine has a vivid color and a pronounced fruit. The naturally high acidity and the very elegant tannin structure make your wines suitable for very long aging. Wine varieties in the vineyards are:
