Bruichladdich Distillery - Progressive Hebridean Distillers

The name is program. The Bruichladdich Distillery was founded in 1881 on the Isle of Islay and was already avant-garde at its inception. A bespoke distillery designed by the then only 23-year-old Robert Harvey, with the aim of producing the purest whiskey possible. Many of the innovations of the Harvey brothers were gradually adopted by other distilleries. 

Unfortunately, the two brothers were better distillers than businessmen and could not withstand the pressure of the stronger industry of those days. But fortunately, their legacy was not lost, and we still use a lot of the original equipment today, some even original from 1881. Thus, it is possible to use the copper stills that once produced wonderful single malts .

Bruichladdich Distillery produces whiskey from the nearby Port Charlotte and the former Octomore Farm according to historical templates that would otherwise be forgotten, as well as the Islay Dry Gin The Botanist made from 22 island-specific herbs and spices.
