Calvet - the heart of French wine

Calvet is a French wine producer, which produces typical wines from the most famous wine regions of France. Today the company belongs to the French wine wholesaler Les Grands Chais de France.

The history of Calvet begins with Jean Marie Calvet. born in 1799, he went to help his father Pierre in the family vineyard at a young age. His passion for wine led him to found Calvet in 1818, and he began traveling across France to learn about the different wine-growing regions and their methods. in 1823, he settled in Bordeaux. His son Octave took over the company in 1870, and his great-grandson Jean opened the company's Burgundy branch in 1889. Other milestones include the establishment of an oenology laboratory in the 1930s, when the modern wave of oenology began, and the construction of the first large bottling line in 1966, after a fire devastated the company's premises. in 1982, Calvet was acquired by the Whitbread Group, and later became the property of the Allied Domecq Group. finally, in 2007, Les Grands Chais de France acquired Calvet.

To enable the wide range of wine regions in the assortment, Calvet works with winemakers from different regions. The assortment includes wines from:

Within the individual regions, Calvet continues to diversify, so "simple" regional wines are also part of the range, as are higher-quality Châteaux in Bordeaux or wines from small appellations.
