In the West of Sicily
The origins of Cantine Paolini...
It all began in 1964 in the westernmost town of Sicily - Marsala. Marsala is part of the largest wine-growing area on the island and a group of winemakers thought of sharing the fertile land. This is how a collaboration was born, combining individual strengths and competences - Cantine Paolini was founded. The name Cantine Paolini is derived from district Paolini. Going back even further in time, the monastic order Paolotti was in the same place in the year 500 and began to cultivate vineyards.
... and today
What all started with a small group of winegrowers, today there are over 1000 members working together with Cantine Paolini. They are the heart of the company. Because without the members, the vineyard of 3000 hectares could never be cultivated. Predominantly characterized by eastern and southern slopes, the vineyard extends over the Sicilian municipalities of Marsala, Trapani, Salemi and Mazara del Vallo.

The wines of the Lance line
Lance translates into German as "lance." However, the wines have nothing to do with a spear. In the past, small sailboats were used in Sicily to transport the grapes from the vineyard to the winery. The bow of the small boats looked like a spearhead, so in the Marsala region these boats were called lances. The pointed bugs are also depicted on the label of this wine line. The Lance wines are all varietal and are vinified from the following grape varieties:
- Inzolia
- Syrah
- Merlot
- Nero d'Avola
