The winery Casillero del Diablo captivates with excellent wines and mystical stories that became legends.

Casillero del Diablo- a legend lives on
Legend has it that over a hundred years ago, the founder of Casillero del Diablo, Don Melchor Concha y Toro, hid a precious collection of wines in his private cellar, protected behind a wrought iron fence. Over time, however, he noticed that the bottles were disappearing in strange ways. It seemed that this secret place was no longer so secret, and that the citizens who had heard of his exquisite wines could not resist the temptation to taste them for themselves. Looking for a new way to protect his treasure, Don Melchor Concha y Toro resorted to the Chilean legends. Knowing how superstitious the townspeople were and how afraid they were of uncanny phenomena, he spread the rumor that strange nocturnal events were occurring. Of course, there was only one explanation for this: the devil dwelled in his cellars. Every sound in the cellar, every echo, every shadow and every shape became part of the story, driven ever onward by the imagination of the locals. Soon the rumor became a legend... and no more bottles disappeared. That's how the name came about, which no longer has all the theatricality when translated: Casillero del Diablo- the Devil's Locker.

The winemakers of Casillero del Diablo
Casillero del Diablo is a great representative of the Chilean wine industry and, according to Marcelo Papa, the technical director, has stood for quality and consistency since the beginning.

One of the secrets is the great agricultural and oenological work that is altogether behind the brand. For example, Marco Ramírez. He currently carries out his work in the Rapel Valley, more precisely in Peumo. His hard work and dedication, together with the exceptional soil and climatic conditions in the region, have enabled the development of excellent red wines - especially Carmenere. But the other winemakers should not be ignored either. Casillero del Diablo also includes:
- Max Weinlaub
- Héctor Urzúa
- Javier Solari
- Javier Villaroel
- and Sebastian Rodrígez
Vines as far as the eye can see - the vineyards of Casillero del Diablo
The winegrowers cultivate the vineyards in a total of 5 regions. The Maule Valley is the largest wine region and has an enormous geographical and climatic diversity. Very rainy winters and warm summers allow the production of very high quality red wines like Cabernet, Merlot or Carmenere. The Maipo Valley is famous for the quality of its Cabernet Sauvignon and has a temperate climate with considerable influence from the Andes. The third region is Limarí, which is known for its incomparable mineral soils - ideal for Chardonnay or Viognier. In the Rapel Valley, Malbec and Shiraz particularly thrive, thanks to the wide range of soil types. Chardonnay, on the other hand, with a particular freshness, is known for the region around Casablanca
