The Château d'Astros is in the tradition of the ancient knightly orders of the Templars and the Maltese, who settled here in the 12th century and farmed the land. After several changes of ownership and the turmoil of the French Revolution, the land was auctioned off by Napoléon Bonaparte to Maxim Martin, an industrialist from Marseilles, from the remnants of the expropriations during the Revolution. After his grandson left no heir, the domaine fell to Joseph, grandfather of the current owner Bernard Maurel.

In addition to the beautiful château in the style of an Italian villa, the old Templar manor house with its massive walls can still be found on the property today. In addition to orchards, you will naturally find the estate's vineyards, which extend over a wide variety of terroirs and thus allow for a diversity of wines. Harvesting is done by machine in the newer vineyards and by hand in the older areas.

The cellar is equipped with steel tanks and oak barrels, in order to be able to do justice to each wine and its aroma. The cellar master Laure Ambroise-Habasque is in charge here. Wines of various quality levels are given the finishing touches here, be it the Commander Rouge, or the simpler IGP wines of the estate.
