Château Grand Jour and Jean Guillot

Since 1617, the Guillot family has been cultivating vines in the commune of Yvrac. Next to Domaine de Bouteilley, Château Grand Jour has been their pride and joy since 1974. Since the mid-1970s, the vineyards have been completely replanted. Between 1987 and 1998, a modern cellar was built, in which the grapes can be processed optimally. Today, Christophe Guillot is responsible for the work in the vineyard and in the cellar. His goal is to produce wines that are affordable and have a good price-quality ratio. Christophe prefers wines that shine with finesse and elegance and that are already great drinking pleasure at an earlier stage.

Chateau Grand Jour Bourdeaux

The Château Grand Jour family

Born into a winemaking family that has owned Château Bouteilley since 1617, Jean Guillot founded the commercial enterprise that bears his name in 1953.
Jean Guillot is 100% a family company, run by his sons Jean Louis Guillot and Christophe Guillot. Their responsibilities are divided between running the business and overseeing the vineyard. Château Grand Jour was surrounded on three sides by the vines of Château Bouteilley. It was acquired by Jean Guillot in 1974. They benefit from the proximity to Château Bouteilley and work here with the same vinification which is completed in stainless steel barrels. It is located in the Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux area.

Château Grand Jour in the large association

Côtes de Bordeaux is an umbrella appellation created in 2009 in the Bordeaux region. Four appellations on the rive droite, which means right bank, now carry this designation as an addition: Castillon, Blaye, Cadillac and Francs. The Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux appellation covers about 3,000 hectares in nine communes and is located immediately east of Saint-Emilion. Nearly 70% of the vineyards are planted with Merlot, followed by Cabernet Franc (20%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (10%). The appellation is exclusively for red wines.
