Corvezzo - Prosecco pioneers
Corvezzo Winery is a winery located near the Prosecco city of Treviso in Veneto, which specializes in the production of organic wine.
The winery was originally founded in 1960 by Maria and Giovanni Corvezzo in the village of Cessalto. Sons Giuseppe and Renzo continued to expand the winery in the 70s, so the vineyard area soon exceeded 140 hectares. Under them also begins the orientation to organic viticulture, working with the method of integrated pest management - instead of eradicating pests with the chemical club, they rely on prevention and population control.

The organic transformation
in 2009, Renzo's son, Giovanni, took over management of the winery. He now wanted to complete what his father and uncle started - a full conversion to organic viticulture. That means no more synthetic pesticides and complete certification of the vineyard. in 2010, the project started, which was to take four years. in 2014, Corvezzo's first organic wine finally landed on the shelves. in 2017, the conversion of all vineyards to organic farming was completed, and Corvezzo's Prosecchi were among the first organic representatives of their kind on the market. in 2020, they also began the first experiments with biodynamic farming.
The Prosecco region - where Corvezzo's wines are made.
The rolling hills of the Prosecco region provide an ideal foundation, allowing the vines to make the most of long days of sunshine. The best regions are found around the municipalities of Valdobbiadene and Conegliano, as well as around the town of Asolo. Wines from these growing regions, which are vinified according to the guidelines of Prosecco production, are allowed to bear the label "Prosecco Superiore". The terroir is mainly characterized by clay, limestone and sandstone, but varies greatly across the different sub-areas. The climate is influenced by both due to the location between the sea and the Alps, constant ventilation helps the grapes to develop their optimal quality.
The grape varieties
Today 150 hectares of vineyards belong to the winery. A large part of the vineyards, typical of the region, is planted with the grape variety Glera, which in the past was also known as Prosecco itself and is the basis for the sparkling wine. Other grape varieties that Corvezzo grows include:
- Pinot Nero (Pinot Noir)
- Manzoni
- Montepulciano
The vines are mostly trained according to the Sylvoz method, which was invented in the region and is characterized by the "pulling down" of the shoots, which offers advantages in terms of care and harvesting.
The wines of Corvezzo - selection writ large
From the grapes, the winery Corvezzo vinifies many different wines, but the bulk of the portfolio is, of course, Prosecco. This is produced in various qualities, both with simple designation, as well as in higher qualities from the DOCG area Valdobbiadene. The Prosecco is complemented by various sparkling wine cuvées, which are composed of the many different grape varieties of the winery. Likewise, the wines are developed in different flavors, starting with the Brut to the Dry.

But also still wines can be found in the repertoire of the winery, both white and red. The wines come in many different varieties, whether with or without sulfite addition, filtered or unfiltered. Let yourself be surprised, surely you will find something for you in the assortment of Corvezzo Winery!
