More information about Aurore Syrah / Cabernet Sauvignon - Fautor
In the glass, the Aurore Syrah / Cabernet Sauvignon - Fautor presents itself in a deep, dark ruby red with purple reflections along the rim. This intense colour promises aromatic density and high concentration. When swirled, delicate stained-glass effects appear, indicating richness of extract and structure.
On the nose, a multi-layered bouquet of ripe dark fruit and fine spicy notes unfolds. Pronounced aromas of prune, juicy blueberry and ripe sour cherry take centre stage. They are accompanied by black pepper, a hint of tobacco, subtle vanilla and a delicate suggestion of dark chocolate. With some air, the wine develops additional notes of black cherry, dried herbs and a light smoky tone.
On the palate, the wine reveals its full expressive power. The cuvée is dense, finely structured and at the same time pleasingly smooth. The texture is distinctly velvety, while the fruit appears clear and precise. Dark berries, prune and sour cherry combine with peppery spice and an elegant, subtly toasted oak note. The acidity is well integrated, lending the wine freshness and tension. Ripe, finely polished tannins provide support and structure without ever seeming angular. The finish is long, with lingering fruit and spicy accents that slowly fade.

The Valul lui Traian region in southern Moldova is regarded as one of the country’s most exciting wine-growing areas. Warm summers, sunny days and cooler nights allow the grapes to ripen slowly and develop rich aromas. The Aurore Syrah / Cabernet Sauvignon - Fautor impressively reflects these conditions with intense fruit, ripe structure and an expressive profile.
Production of Aurore Syrah / Cabernet Sauvignon by Fautor
The grapes for the Aurore Syrah / Cabernet Sauvignon - Fautor come from selected parcels in the protected Valul lui Traian wine-growing region of Moldova. The climate is continental, with hot, dry summers and cold winters. Warm air currents from southern regions meet cool nights, allowing the grapes to develop intense aromas and harmonious structure. The soils consist predominantly of calcareous and clay-rich layers with sandy inclusions. This combination ensures good water retention and lends the wines minerality and depth.
The vineyards are carefully positioned to ensure that the berries receive abundant sunlight. At the same time, gentle winds help keep the grapes dry and promote aromatic concentration. Harvesting is selective, with lower-quality grapes consistently left in the vineyard. Only ripe, aromatically concentrated fruit reaches the cellar. Gentle handling of the berries preserves the intensity of the fruit.
In the cellar, Fautor relies on a precise combination of modern technology and traditional sensitivity. The musts ferment under temperature control in stainless-steel tanks in order to bring out the fruity and spicy components of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon clearly. A gentle period of maceration extracts colour, tannins and aromas from the grape skins in a targeted manner. The wine then matures partly in large oak casks, while another portion remains in stainless-steel tanks.
Stainless-steel ageing emphasises freshness and primary fruit, while the large oak cask contributes subtle toasted notes, added complexity and a finer tannin structure. This combination creates a harmonious balance of clear fruit, spice and supple structure. The style of the Fautor winery is defined by precision, finesse and a modern, international character without denying its regional origins. As a result, the cuvée is versatile, distinctive and appealing.

The ideal serving temperature is between 15 and 18 °C. Served slightly chilled, the wine appears especially clear and focused, with pronounced freshness and precise fruit. At a somewhat higher temperature, its spice, body and supple character unfold more intensely. Brief aeration in a decanter before serving reveals additional layers of aroma and gives the wine even greater expression.
For storage, a cool, dark room with a preferably constant temperature is suitable. Ideally, the bottles should be stored horizontally so that the cork remains in contact with the wine. Under good conditions, the cuvée develops additional notes of maturity and spice over the medium term while retaining its charming fruit. The result is a red wine that provides great pleasure today and promises impressive drinking moments in the years ahead.
