The history of the Domaine Yvon et Pascal Tabordet began in 1981.
Harmony and quality for wine and people at Domaine Tabordet
The brothers Pascal and YvonTabordet took over the estate in Verdigny with an area of three hectares, and just six years later the growing area was expanded to the other side of the Loire. The siblings specialized early on in mechanical harvesting and production of the wines. Fortunately, no loss in quality is evident as a result. Pascal and Yvon married the sisters Anne-Marie and Marie-Laure and thus expanded the families into a traditional winery, which was then taken over in 2008 by the sons Marius and Gaël. In addition to the two successors, Pascal is still involved in the production of the wines, while Yvon is already enjoying his retirement. An important philosophy of the domaine, alongside the pursuit of the best quality wines, is the pursuit of the best harmony among all employees at Domaine Yvon et Pascal Tabordet. Two full-time employees as well as seasonal workers are always involved in production, helping with vine care, harvesting, and selection.
Smoked specialties from the Val de Loire - Domaine Tabordet
In addition to the regional classic white wines, the range of Domaine Tabordet also includes red wines, rosé wines and cuvées from the growing regions of Pouilly Fumé and Sancerre. Pouilly Fumé and Sancerre are among the best-known areas for white wine in the Val de Loire region and, thanks to their different soil types, provide the unique and characteristic taste of the wines. On the Pouilly Fumé, which is produced on a twelve-hectare cultivation area on the right bank of the Loire, you will find the domaine’s flagship wine. It is made from Sauvignon Blanc vines that grow on clay-limestone soils known as "argiles à silex". This soil is characterized by its flint content, which gives the wines a smoky note and explains the "fumé" (smoked) in the name of the terroir. On the left bank, vines for Sancerre Rouge, Blanc and Rosé thrive on an area of 4.5 hectares. This chalky clay soil is distinguished by a high content of white stones, which heat the soil with their light color. Thanks to this composition, the wines are extremely clear and defined in taste.
