South Africa on the pulse of time
The history of Fleur du Cap wines begins in 1968 with the opening of the cellar Die Bergkelder in Stellenbosch by Dr. Anton Rupert. At the time, this cellar was unique in the southern hemisphere in its design because it was cut deep into the Papegaaiberg. Fittingly, over the next few years, the winery rose to become the great innovator and driving force behind modern viticulture in South Africa. For example, they introduced some grape varieties that were atypical of South Africa at the time and began aging the wine in barriques. in 1998, Series Privée, a range of unfiltered, premium wines under the Fleur du Cap brand was introduced, which is the brand's most recent milestone.
The best for the wines
The grapes for Fleur du Cap wines do not come from specific vineyards, but are selected from different plots in the aftermath. The basis for this is provided by the soils and climate, with most coming from the Stellenbosch area.
