Geils Sekt- und Weingut - the jumping stag from Rheinhessen
Geils Sekt- und Weingut is located in the municipality of Bernsheim in the wine-growing region of Rheinhessen. The Geil family has been growing wine here since the 18th century. An exact date cannot be determined, but a clue is the 1736 renovation year of the family's ancestral home in Nieder-Flörsheim. Directly below, the leaping stag is carved into the sandstone, which today adorns the winery's logo.

The Geil family grows vines in the middle of Germany's largest wine-growing region. Approximately 26,500 hectares of vineyards now belong to Rheinhessen, which, contrary to what the name suggests, is located in Rhineland-Palatinate. The name is derived from the historical affiliation with the Grand Duchy and later the People's State of Hesse. In addition, the wine-growing region is one of the oldest in Germany, with the first evidence dating from shortly before the year 0. Also the oldest vineyard is found here, the Niersteiner Glöck, whose designation took place in the year 742.
The cultivation at Geils Sekt- und Weingut
In the midst of these historical conditions, the Geils grow their wine. The vinification is done by the father-son team Rudolf and Florian. The following grape varieties are used among others:
- Silvaner
- Pinot Blanc
- Pinot Gris
- Riesling
- Chardonnay
- Muscat
- Pinot Noir
- Merlot

Geils Sekt- und Weingut follows the philosophy of leaving the wine as authentic as possible and not interfering too much. The family itself describes this approach thus:
"Everything we smell and taste in the wine is developed by the vines. We can't really add anything to it - but help it unfold."
For vinification, the winery mainly uses small barrels in which the wine can lie on the lees for a long time. In this way, the character of the grape is brought out and the peculiarities of the wine are preserved.
The wine lines of Geils Sekt- und Weingut
Geils Sekt- und Weingut has different wine lines. The entry starts with the simple but good "fine liters", for every day. The estate wines are the next level, followed by the site wines from the estate's best vineyards. In addition, there are specialties such as the Nocturne, a playful red wine, selection wines, which are vinified only in special vintages and also noble sweet wines.

In addition, as the name also implies, they produce sparkling and semi-sparkling wines. The Frizz is the interpretation of the Frizzante from Italy and the uncomplicated one for many occasions. The winery's sparkling wines are produced using the classic bottle fermentation method, as used for the highest quality sparkling wines, such as champagne. The top of the portfolio is the Pinot 3.
