The mountain that gives its name
The Helderberg owes its name to its beauty. Translated from Afrikaans, it means clear or bright mountain. This is because when the sun sets, the western side of the mountain is brightly illuminated. With its height of 1137m, the Helderberg rises above the wine-growing region in the Western Cape of South Africa.
Long time ago
Centuries ago, farmers took advantage of the fertile soil and ideal proximity to the sea to grow vines around the mountain. in 1906, the Helderberg Wijnmakerijwine estate was founded. Also in this year the first grapes were harvested.
Every step leads to success
In the following decades, Helderberg Wijnmakerij gained more and more importance for red wines from South Africa. This is partly due to the fact that Helderberg Wijnmakerij always sticks to the tradition of vinifying red wines from particularly excellent Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.
