Madeira wines from Henriques & Henriques - a family tradition of almost 200 years

The Henriques & Henriques wine house was founded in 1850 on the Portuguese island of Madeira in the Atlantic Ocean by João Gonçalves Henriques. When the founder's sons, Francisco Eduardo and João Joaquim Henriques, took over the company's fortunes in 1912, they operated as Henriques & Henriques from that point on, laying the foundations for the success that continues to this day. From 1925, the young company focused on the production and distribution of its own wines. The last direct heir of the Henriques family, called "João de Belém" by the islanders, who had no heirs himself, left his company at his death in 1968 to his three friends and business partners Alberto Nascimento Jardim, Peter Cossart, who had made 53 vintages with the company, and Carlos Nunes Pereira.

Henriques & Henriques is today the only wine producer in Madeira with its own vineyards

At the beginning of the 90's, Henriques & Henriques underwent a considerable expansion program, with investments of millions of dollars for a new winery, laboratories, latest technologies, offices, warehouses and barrel storage, as well as 10 hectares of new vineyards near the new winery. Controlling and managing all processes and aspects from cultivation to production allows Henriques & Henriques to produce wines of exceptional quality.

Today, Henriques & Henriques continues to rely on the family tradition of almost 200 years, producing the finest Madeira wines that enjoy high recognition worldwide.
