Agriculture in all its facets

Herdade dos Grous, which translates as "Estate of the Cranes," is located not far from the town of Beja in southern Portugal. In addition to viticulture, the estate is engaged in livestock farming, thoroughbred horse breeding and also olive cultivation. The estate has a total of 1000 hectares, including a 98-hectare reservoir.

Portuguese through and through

The grape varieties grown here are mainly regional, such as Trincadeira or Aragonez. The soils are rich in limestone, clay, sand and magnesium content. Oenologist Luis Duarte oversees wine production at the site, which was created in 1987 and received a modern cellar in 2005.
