Köhler-Wölbling on the Unstrut river

The Unstrut flows slowly between Laucha and Freyburg, accompanied by the beautiful landscape of the Unstrut valley. Near the village of Weischütz, where the sun-drenched shore invites you to take a break, is the Winery Köhler-Wölbling at home. The Straußwirtschaft is open as soon as the bouquet is hanging. Guests are warmly welcome and are spoiled with estate wines and with Fettbemmchen. Wicker chairs and tables are spread out under the pear tree and you can enjoy the view of the Unstrut shore and the vineyards in a relaxed atmosphere.

Köhler-Wölbling and their terroir

Nine different grape varieties grow on the shell limestone soils of the Weischützer Nüssenberg on approx. 10 ha. The mountain lies sheltered on the banks of the Unstrut with an optimal inclination towards the south-east in a so-called "heat island". The weathered shell limestone soils with a low loess layer have good water permeability and store the sun's heat optimally. The grapes thrive particularly well here and produce a slightly mineral, finely fruity and elegant wine. Typical for this region are the dry white wines, but also red wines are increasingly raised.
A speciality of which you are particularly proud is the Kernling. The name is no coincidence. One would like to claim a fusion of the grapes Kerner and Riesling with an independent, very juicy character.

Köhler-Wölbling Straußenwirtschaft

The Straußwirtschaft is open on weekends from May to September. Saying of the winery:"In the turmoil and change of people and times, one thing is constant: The luck of the house. May it be given to friends and guests that they always return joyfully."

Philosophy at Köhler-Wölbling

The most important goal at Köhler-Wölbling is the cultivation of the vineyards in harmony with nature. This means gentle cultivation and growing methods with which high-quality fruit-driven wines are produced. A lot of work, diligence and a lot of love goes into each of their wines, and you can taste it. The wines are predominantly fruity dry and semi-dry and can be enjoyed, for example, in the Straußwirtschaft. In the cellar the wines of the varieties mature:
