The history of La Chablisienne winery from Burgundy begins as early as 1923. Under the leadership of Abbé Balitrand, a number of winemakers joined forces to better face the economic difficulties of the time. In the middle of the Chablis vineyards, together they created a cooperative, the origin of the current winery, to market their wines.

The vineyards of Chablis are among the oldest in France. The exceptional reputation of its white wines, made from Chardonnay grapes, has spread to all parts of the world over many years. Grown on both banks of the Serein River, the vineyards of the estate include seventeen villages.

The unique character of the wines comes from the calcareous soils. Much of the limestone content comes from sediments of fossil marine animals. This exceptional soil, found in a few other places in the world, gives the terroir its minerality, finesse and incomparable elegance.
